One of my favorite happy hour spots. On Thursdays they have ladies night, where you get half off certain cocktails and apps. I ordered the pepperoni flat bread pizza, red wine and a lemon spritzer. 10/10!
Best venue and restaurant for small reception. Varia in the Hilton Norfolk, VA - is awesome. Food was amazing, drinks awesome, staff unbelievable - attentive, pleasant, they new what we wanted before we had to ask. Outstanding event. Will be back for sure. Oh, the private room behind the bookcases was the absolute best. The event was for 22 people and the food was hot and perfect. Thank you Varia staff!
I went with my mom and dad who had not been out for a while. They enjoyed how easy it was to move around, which has become more and more important for them. Easy valet, easy, walk up to the restaurant, easy to access everywhere in the seating area and restrooms. We enjoyed the food, especially the octopus appetizer, the mixed seafood entrée, and so many other things. The wine list is appropriate for this type of restaurant. The service got better through the evening. My server, Samuel, was very eager to do an excellent job. I spoke with him after and thanked him for taking such good care of us and he asked me if I had any suggestions for him to improve his service. I offered several things that he hadn’t thought about and I really appreciated his receptiveness. It was a great evening.
Slid in Friday morning for a quick breakfast and was really impressed. The place is very nice and comfortable, especially for dining solo. Big, beautiful comfy chairs and a TV with the news on made it easy to settle in and relax. Adrian was my waiter and he was absolutely on point. Friendly, personable, and attentive without hovering. I even asked if they could switch off FOX News because I just can’t have that playing. Management responded immediately and changed it to a different channel, which I truly appreciated. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced compared to local spots. The portions were generous. Three turkey sausage patties, a heaping serving of potato wedges, and eggs cooked perfectly. The atmosphere felt upscale, clean, and still very relaxed. I really enjoyed my breakfast, and Adrian genuinely made my morning.
Varia is our go-to spot for happy hour and date night. The staff is amazing—especially Ashley. She knows the menu inside and out, and her last recommendation, the panzanella, was incredible. The sweet and savory combination with prosciutto is perfect for anyone who loves it. Definitely check out Varia—and ask for Ashley!
Outstanding service from Gianna, our server - she was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. Great attitude, excellent service, and a wonderful dining experience. Ashely, the chef also deserves special recognition for creating an outstanding tasting menu— the deviled crab Benedict is absolutely delicious!!. Thank you both for an exceptional dining experience! I went to Varia with friends in November right after Thanksgiving. We went to eat their after Winterfest and seeing the battleship with Christmas lights. Varia was within a short walk of that venue. Located in the hotel. It was absolutely a whole Vibe. Upon arrival my party and I were seated right in the center in front of a red piano and Franck Sinatra cover singer. We were serenaded as we ate. I absolutely loved it. The ambiance was wonderful and Christmasy. I also like the quirky Art displayed all over the hotel and near the restaurant. But the food is what took it over the top. It was excellent Italian food. Unique flavors, delicious offerings and fabulous presentation. I was so glad I listened to the other reviews and led my group here. They all thought it was amazing. Singing along and being sung to at dinner was icing on the cake. Definitely will come back when next I am in Norfolk.
Gorgeous location, delicious food, and impeccable service. The Panzanella salad was refreshing and full of flavor. The Radiatore was light and tasty especially the fennel sausage and homemade pasta. Thank you Ashley for the recommendations and lovely service.
The food, service and atmosphere were absolutely amazing! My husband and I went there for our Anniversary dinner on 1/13/26. The spot right to the left of the red piano was super nice. The chairs were comfy and the dimmed lights added a nice touch to the atmosphere. The employees were absolutely amazing and super friendly. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs. I will say that the meatballs were huge! And the spaghetti noodles were so good and you can tell they were made from scratch. I highly recommend this place for a birthday dinner, anniversary dinner or a place you want to get fancy for. You don’t have to get fancy but for the occasion I totally loved it.
Jasper was professional and courteous. Steve the piano player added such a necessary vibe to the ambiance. The squid ink pasta was yummy. I loved my espresso martini! Will definitely come back.
